As part of a complex inspection project that took place in an Oil & Gas industrial park in Romania, Skyline Drones performed a series of inspection services including NDT measurements with the UT Drone in a crude oil tank, with an exclusive technology in Eastern Europe through our technology partner, Terra Inspectioneering.

The UT inspection of the shell, roof and rafters of the oil tank was preceded by a close-up visual inspection. The project was performed in collaboration with our partners from Bureau Veritas who validated and certified Skyline Drones for NDT inspection with our UT Drone.

Ultrasonic thickness measurements (UTM) is a non-destructive inspection method (non-destructive testing – NDT) that allows inspections to be carried out on assets without affecting their integrity in any way.

The method by which the certification was achieved, consists in comparing the results of measurements taken manually by a level 2 NDT engineer with those taken by the drone.

Following an extremely close level of accuracy between the two methods, Bureau Veritas certified Skyline Drones for the UT drone measurements that were performed during the inspection of this crude oil tank.

Bureau Veritas SRL is granting acceptance for UT measurements for using remote inspection techniques with UT Drones, to Skyline Drones SRL.

This is a technology that was certified in a real field environment as a complementary solution for NDT inspection, in the same range of accepted accuracy as traditional UT thickness methods used.
